Spartans on an eleven-game win streak

St. Joseph-Ogden extended its baseball winning streak on Thursday (April 21) with a 7-1 Illini Prairie Conference win at home over Pontiac.
Hayden Brazelton and Griffin Roesch teamed up to pitch a four-hitter. Brazelton walked two and struck out seven in five innings. Roesch walked one and fanned one during his two-inning stint.
Luke Landrus, Adam Price and Charles Voorhees all landed two hits. Landrus and Voorhees had two RBI apiece.
Andrew Beyers and Connor Hale both scored two runs.
On Saturday (April 23), SJ-O exploded for 28 runs in a doubleheader sweep at home over Chillicothe IVC. The Spartans prevailed 11-1 and 17-7.
Tyler Altenbaumer improved to 7-0 in the first game, walking one and striking out 11 in his six-inning stint.
He was also 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and a home run.
Jack Robertson earned the Game 2 win with four innings of relief. He walked four and fanned seven.
For the doubleheader, Altenbaumer was 6-for-8 with five RBI, Landrus was 6-for-7 (including a homer) and seven RBI, Price was 5-for-9 with four RBI and Brazelton was 4-for-7 with four RBI. Hale homered in the first game and Roesch knocked two hits in the nightcap.
Landrus scored six runs for the day and Brazelton tallied five runs and stole two bases.
SJ-O (19-2) is 8-1 in Illini Prairie Conference action. The Spartans return to action on Tuesday (April 26) at home against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley. SJ-O has won 11 straight games.
