Hobick picks up the win over Schlarman

Dalton Hobick pitched 1 1/3 innings of hitless relief on Monday (April 25) and picked up a win after the Oakwood baseball team pushed across the tie-breaking run at Schlarman and secured a 6-5 victory.
Comet starter Travis Tiernan worked four innings, permitting two hits and one walk while fanning 10 batters.
Hobick and Josh Young each had two hits. Hobick stole three bases and scored three runs. Grant Powell had two stolen bases.
On Tuesday (April 26), Oakwood matched its season’s high for runs scored in a 22-2 triumph at North Vermillion, Ind.
Powell hurled the first three innings and earned the win. He struck out six and walked no one. He was relieved by Loudyn Hughes, who pitched two hitless and scoreless innings. Hughes fanned four and walked no one.
Hobick, Bryson Marcinko, Bryson Myers, Powell and Young all clubbed two hits. Myers knocked in four runs and Matthew Miller had three RBI. Hobick’s hits were a double and a triple.
Hobick and Young each tallied three runs. Touching home plate twice were Chase Harrison, Marcinko, Myers, Powell and Tiernan.
On Wednesday (April 27), the Comets dropped a 5-2 decision at home to Paris.
Hobick drilled two of the team’s four hits. Hobick and Young had stolen bases, extending the school’s streak to 20 games this season with a stolen base.
Hobick pitched four innings, walking no one and fanning five. Marcinko worked two innings and absorbed the loss. Aaron Harrison pitched a hitless and scoreless seventh inning.
Oakwood (11-9) returns to action on Friday (April 29) at home against Cissna Park.
