St. Joseph-Ogden wins Unity Invitational

St. Joseph-Ogden won three individual events on Friday (April 22) and captured team honors in the 18-school Unity boys’ track and field invitational.
SJ-O amassed 88 points. Runner-up Rantoul totaled 71 points.
The Spartans’ winners were junior Aidan McCorkle (400 meters, 52.71 seconds), senior Charlie Mabry (800 meters, 2:08.37) and senior Luke Stegall (3,200 meters, 10:31.41).
The 800 and 3,200 were two of three races where SJ-O produced two top-six finishers.
Aden Armstrong was third in the 3,200 (11:27.88) and Holden Jones took sixth in the 800 (2:16.25).
Teammate Tyler Burch had two top-six placements. He was the 100-meter runner-up (11.30 seconds) and ended fourth in the 200 meters (23.07 seconds).
Also in the 100, Jonathan Pouter was sixth (11.65 seconds).
Hurdler Braden Clampitt was third in the 300 event (44.21 seconds).
Brock Trimble took third in the discus (140 feet, 5 inches) and Charlie Schmitz was fourth in the pole vault (10 feet, 10 inches).
SJ-O’s other points came from relays.
Both the 1,600-meter foursome and the 3,200-meter units placed second.
The 1,600 consisted of Colin Wayland, Spencer Wilson, Logan Smith and McCorkle. Their time was 3:39.00.
The 3,200 featured Isiah Mock, Payton Wendell, Elijah Mock and Wilson. They stopped the clock in 9:00.99.
The 800-meter relay ended in fifth place. The relay runners were Poulter, Wayland, Jett Morris and Burch. Their time was 44.69 seconds.
SJ-O also won the junior varsity portion of the meet with 26 points.
The school’s lone win was in the 800 relay where Corbin Wells, Trimble, Smith and Wilson were timed in 1:36.04.
