Oakwood’s Austin McDaniel finished among the top seven in three individual events on Friday (April 28) in the Spartan Classic boys’ track and field meet at St. Joseph.
McDaniel ran fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.78 seconds) and seventh in the 300-meter hurdles (44.86 seconds).
He also placed seventh in the triple jump (39 feet, 9 inches).
Oakwood tied for 21st with two points.
There were also events restricted to freshmen-sophomore participants. Oakwood had two entries end among the top eight.
Saul Carrillo finished sixth in the 400 meters (56.02 seconds) and the Comets’ underclassmen 400-meter relay took eighth. Sharing the baton were Connor Moss, Carrillo, Macen Phillips and Connor Smith. They combined for a time of 48.73 seconds.
Oakwood was 13th in the freshmen-sophomore division with one point.
The Comets return to action on Tuesday (May 3) at Seeger, Ind.
