Montgomery wins at Lincoln Prairie Conference meet

Heritage sophomore Lillian Montgomery was the individual champion on Monday (May 9) in the 3,200 meters in the girls’ Lincoln Prairie Conference track and field meet at Cerro Gordo.
Montgomery was timed in 13 minutes, 59.60 seconds.
The Hawks had two athletes take the No. 2 and No. 3 positions in the triple jump.
Loran Tate was the runner-up (29 feet, 6 inches) and Kamryn Soard was third (29 feet, 4 inches).
In the team chase, Heritage took seventh in the 11-school event with 35 points. The team champion was Okaw Valley with 116 points.
The Hawks’ Adena Paul collected a fourth-place finish in the shot put (29 feet). Teammate Gracie Tate was 10th in the shot (23 feet, 8 inches).
Heritage’s 800-meter relay crossed in fifth place. The foursome of Loran Tate, Madi Wilson, Soard and Alex Tatman was timed in 2:09.67.
Also placing fifth were Montgomery in the discus (81 feet, 5 inches) and Loran Tate in the long jump (13 feet, 10 inches).
Gracie Tate was seventh in the discus (75 feet), Soard was seventh in the high jump (4 feet, 8 inches) and Loran Tate was seventh in the 200 meters (28.79 seconds).
The Hawks’ 1,600-meter relay was also seventh. Teaming up in the four-lap race were Bailee Lubben, Wilson, Tatman and Montgomery. Their time was 5:11.13.
Heritage’s other top-10 finishers were Wilson (eighth in the 300 hurdles in 59.61 seconds and ninth in the long jump at 12 feet, 1 inch), Tatman (ninth in the 200 meters in 30.03 seconds) and Lubben (ninth in the 400 meters in 1:16.10).
The Hawks return to action on Friday (May 13) in the Salt Fork Sectional at Catlin.
