Cafarelli and Kern place in Top 10 at Ron Schaede Memorial Invitational

St. Joseph-Ogden golfers Ashten Cafarelli and Jacob Kern secured top-10 finishes on Friday (Aug. 12) at the Ron Schaede Memorial Invitational tournament held at the UI Blue Golf Course, in Savoy.
Cafarelli was the runner-up with a 75. Kern fired a 79 and placed eighth individually.
The other SJ-O competitors were McGwire Atwood (88), Maddux Carter (92), Jack Robertson (99) and James Huisinga (105).
In the team battle, the Spartans placed fifth with a 334 composite. Monticello edged Champaign Central, 312-313, for team honors.
On Thursday (Aug. 11), St. Joseph-Ogden placed third in a 17-school scramble at Danville’s Harrison Park.
SJ-O finished with a composite 60. First-place Arcola/Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond posted a 56.
The Spartans return to action on Monday (Aug. 15) at the Urbana Tiger Kick-Off Classic at Urbana Country Club.
