Clark Roland wins meet at Paris

Eighth-grader Clark Roland was the individual winner for Heritage in the team’s season-opening boys’ cross-country meet on Tuesday (Aug. 16) at Paris Mayo.
He ran the 2-mile course in 12 minutes, 38.4 seconds and had a 59.9-second margin of victory.
Teammate Christian Paul, a seventh-grader, placed fifth in the 19-runner race. Paul’s time was 14:38.1.
In the girls’ portion of the meet, the Heritage leader was seventh-grader Leah DelRossi, who was eighth in 18:18.3.
Gwen Keely was 10th (19:39.8) and teammate Rylen Stierwalt was 14th (21:14.8).
Besides Paris and Heritage, Chrisman was also in the meet.
On Saturday (Aug. 20), all five Heritage runners achieved their top times of the season in the Saber Corn Classic, in Champaign.
Roland took second overall in the boys’ eighth-grade division (11:47) and Paul wound up in eighth place in the boys’ seventh-grade race (13:02).
DelRossi placed 19th in the girls’ seventh-grade race (16:47). Stierwalt ended 48th in the girls’ sixth-grade division (19:12) and Keely ran ninth in the girls’ fifth-grade race (17:35).
Heritage returns to action on Thursday (Aug. 25) at Paxton-Buckley-Loda.
