PV-O pitches end week with two no-hitters

Prairieview Ogden baseball pitchers posted back-to-back no-hitters to end last week and began this week with a one-hitter.

On Wednesday (Aug. 17), Kaden Wedig and John Couture held the home team hitless in PVO’s 17-0 victory at Rantoul Eater.

Wedig worked 3 1/3 innings. He walked one batter and struck out seven. Couture pitched the final 1 2/3 innings and struck out all five batters.

On Thursday (Aug. 18), Jameson Ehler pitched a complete-game four-inning no-hitter as the Mustangs tamed Armstrong-Potomac 16-0 at Potomac.

Ehler walked one batter and fanned 11.

The offensive leaders at Eater were Wedig, Ehler and Wyatt McKinney.

Wedig was 2-for-3 and scored four runs. He had two RBI. Ehler was 2-for-3 and knocked in three runs. McKinney was also 2-for-3.

Lane McKinney, Donaven Taylor and Logan Wedig all collected two RBI. Lane McKinney, Casen Goff and Dalton York crossed home plate twice apiece.

Against Armstrong-Potomac, Kaden Wedig went 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored. Ehler ended 2-for-3 with four RBI.

York tallied three runs. Scoring twice apiece were Ehler, Lane McKinney, Logan Wedig and Goff. Couture and Aiden Hundley delivered two RBI apiece.

On Monday (Aug. 22), Couture pitched a four-inning one-hitter as PVO blanked Rossville-Alvin, 12-0. He walked two and struck out five. Rossville-Alvin’s lone hit was a fourth-inning single.

He was backed by York’s third three-hit game of the season as well as a 3-for-3 showing from Hundley. Wyatt McKinney and Goff each totaled two hits.

York knocked in three runs and Hundley tallied three runs.

On Tuesday (Aug. 23), the Mustangs scored three runs in the top of the first inning and went on to defeat Schlarman, 6-2, in Danville.

Kaden Wedig pitched five innings of two-hit relief, walking one batter and fanning 10. The outing was his fourth this year without allowing a run.

The offense was led by York and Ehler, each with two hits. Kaden Wedig scored two runs and Lane McKinney delivered two RBI.

PVO (7-2) returns to action on Thursday (Aug. 25) at home against Westville.
