Russell finishes fourth at Saber Corn Classic

Macie Russell, from Oakwood/Salt Fork, ran fourth on Saturday (Aug. 27) in the St. Thomas More Saber Corn Classic girls’ cross-country race.
Her 3-mile time was 20 minutes, 7.2 seconds. There were 46 finishers.
Other participants for the Comets were Kalie Tison (33rd in 26:05.6) and Addie Wright (44th in 29:04.9).
In the boys’ division, the Oakwood/Salt Fork leader was Bryson Capansky (38th in 21:14.9). The team’s other competitors were Logan Henthorn (51st in 22:57.5) and Ben Darling (54th in 23:16.5).
There were 68 finishers.
Monticello (31 points) won the boys’ race. Seven schools fielded full teams. Urbana Uni High (38 points) won the girls’ race. Four schools fielded four teams.
Oakwood/Salt Fork returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 3) in the Chrisman Cowchip Classic.
