Earley and Thurman win doubles match against GCMS

Senior Katie Earley and junior Emma Thurman teamed up for a win at No. 3 doubles on Monday (Aug. 29) to account for the lone St. Joseph-Ogden win in an 8-1 dual-meet loss to Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley at the UI’s Atkins Tennis Center.
Earley and Thurman (2-0 for the season) prevailed against Katelynn Shockey and Kacey Robertson, 6-5, 1-0.
In singles, SJ-O sophomore McKennah Hamilton dropped a tough three-set decision, 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 to Kadence Crowley at No. 5.
In her last match, Hamilton was victorious in a three-set match.
SJ-O (0-4) returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 1) at Atkins against Watseka.
