Heritage volleyball wins consolation bracket at Altamont Tournament

The Heritage Hawks placed fifth and won the consolation bracket on Saturday (Sept. 3) in the Altamont Tournament.

In five tournament matches, Bryn Wyant pounded 28 kills, Adena Paul had 18 kills, Gracie Tate had eight kills, Mary Roland had five kills, Katy Learned had three kills and Destanee Morgan recorded two kills.

Roland handed out 71 assists for the day.

Eight players had contributions defensively, led by Morgan with 39 digs. Other leaders in digs were Tate (33), Roland (29), Wyant (25), Lilli Montgomery (18), Emma Young (14), Riley Miller (10) and Learned (5).

Heritage served up 22 aces for the tournament, led by Tate with seven. Also landing service aces were Wyant (4), Paul (3), Roland (3), Miller (2), Morgan (2) and Learned (1).

Paul notched the team’s only block.

Heritage lost to Armstrong-Potomac (24-22, 21-10), tied Greenville (21-15, 17-21) and lost to Altamont (21-14, 21-15) before winning the consolation bracket.

The Hawks topped Vandalia in the semifinals (15-25, 25-20, 15-8) and handled Cerro Gordo/Bement in the finals (25-19, 25-22).

Heritage (4-5-1) returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 6) at home against Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin.
