Panthers shut-out Bismarck-Henning

Willis Canamore and Tyler Wright combined on a three-hitter on Wednesday (Aug. 31) as St. Joseph shut out Bismarck-Henning, 5-0.

Canamore allowed two hits in 3 2/3 innings. He issued no walks and struck out nine. Wright worked 3 1/3 innings, permitting one hit and one walk while striking out four.

Eli Garrett led the Panthers’ offensive attack with a 3-for-4 performance.  Wright and Canamore landed two hits apiece.

For Canamore, it was the fifth game in a row and the 10th for the season with at least two hits.

On Saturday (Sept. 3), the Panthers’ winning streak was snapped at five games with a 4-2 loss at Mount Zion.

Nolan Franzen collected two of the team’s hits. He also pitched five innings, yielding five hits, three walks and registering five strikeouts.

Finn Miller worked a scoreless sixth inning, fanning one batter.

On Tuesday (Sept. 6), the Panthers returned to their winning ways with a 6-2 victory over St. Matthew in Champaign.

Canamore and Buskirk each laced three hits. Contributing two hits apiece were Miller, Garrett and Franzen.

Buskirk knocked in two runs. Canamore tallied two runs.

Buskirk notched the win, throwing 6 1/3 innings. He permitted three hits and three walks while striking out two. Miller worked 2/3 of an inning, retiring both batters he faced.

St. Joseph (12-5) returns to action on Wednesday (Sept. 7) at home against Urbana.
