Fisher and Retx win race at Kickapoo

Jack Fisher and Lance Retx raced to a joint victory on Tuesday (Sept. 6) in a four-school boys’ cross-country meet at Kickapoo State Park.
The St. Joseph-Ogden athletes were each timed in 20 minutes and 7 seconds for the 3-mile race.
The meet, which also featured Oakwood/Salt Fork, Armstrong-Potomac and Hoopeston Area, was a non-scored competition.
Other SJ-O leaders were Aden Armstrong (seventh in 21:19), Ethan Blackburn (eighth, also in 21:19), Mason Guido (ninth in 21:21), Holden Jones (10th in 21:22), Joe Griebat (11th in 21:49 and Cyrus Zadeh (14th in 23:33).
In the girls’ portion of the meet, SJ-O’s Savanna Franzen was the runner-up. Her 3-mile time was 21 minutes and 21 seconds.
Other leaders for the Spartans were Chloe Burkhalter (third in 24:27), Sophia Kasper (fifth in 29:01), Sydney Steinbach (sixth, also in 29:01) and Hannah Mock (seventh in 29:29).
SJ-O returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 3) in the First to Finish meet at Detweiller Park, in Peoria.
