By Fred Kroner
Savanna Franzen took third on Saturday (Sept. 17) for St. Joseph-Ogden in the 304-runner field in the freshmen-sophomore division of the Richard Spring girls’ cross-country invitational at Peoria’s Detweiller Park.
Her 3-mile time was 18 minutes, 16.4 seconds.
SJ-O did not have enough runners to be scored as a team.
The other Spartans in the freshmen-sophomore race were Hannah Mock (168th in 22:20.4), Sydney Steinbach (189th in 22:46.8) and Sophia Kasper (193rd in 22:50.3).
The lone SJ-O runner in the 396-runner girls’ open division was Chloe Burkhalter, who took fifth with a time of 19:19.5.
SJ-O returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 24) in its own Spartan Classic.
