SJ-O volleyball opens conference play with win

St. Joseph-Ogden opened play in the Illini Prairie Conference with a volleyball win on Thursday (Sept. 15) at home against defending Class 1A state champions St. Thomas More, 25-22, 25-20.
Taylor Hug directed the offense with 12 assists as well as eight digs and three kills. Peyton Williams landed seven kills, Shayne Immke added six kills and Addie Roesch contributed two kills.
Immke also ended with eight digs. Roesch had four digs and Emma Ward had three digs. Helene Jones finished with five blocks, while Immke and Roesch recorded three blocks apiece. Josey Frerichs had two blocks.
SJ-O (11-4) returns to action on Monday (Sept. 19) at home against Marshall. The Spartans are working on a six-match winning streak.
