Oakwood cross country competes at SJO Classic

Oakwood/Salt Fork’s Macie Russell placed 12th in the 140-runner Spartan Classic girls’ cross-country meet at St. Joseph-Ogden.
Russell’s time for the 2-mile course was 18 minutes, 44.96 seconds.
Oakwood/Salt Fork didn’t have enough runners to be scored as a team.
The Comets’ other two participants in the girls’ division were Kalie Tharp (67th in 22:12.65) and Addie Wright (131st in 27:39.76).
In the 22-team boys’ race, Oakwood/Salt Fork placed 19th with a composite score of 521 points. Meet champion Decatur St. Teresa scored 60 points.
The Comets’ entrants were Saul Carillo (91st in 18:14.24), Thomas Wells (92nd in 18:15.75), Logan Henthorn (102nd in 18:31.36), Bryson Capansky (125th in 19:35.20), Brayden Edwards (149th in 21:12.32) and Ben Darling (151st in 21:50.22).
Oakwood/Salt Fork returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 1) in the Oakwood Invitational at Kickapoo State Park.
