St. Joseph-Ogden senior Jacob Kern was the individual medalist on Wednesday (Sept. 28) in the boys’ Class 1A IHSA golf regional tournament at Willow Pond Golf Course, in Rantoul.
Kern posted a 73 and was three strokes ahead of the runner-up.
Kern helped SJ-O secure a team berth in the sectional, which will be held on Monday (Oct. 3) at Danville’s Turtle Run Golf Course.
Other Spartan scores were Ashten Cafarelli (85), Maddux Carter (88), McGwire Atwood (90), Jack Robertson (101) and Tyler Buss (108).
St. Thomas More captured team honors with a 330 composite. SJ-O was the runner-up with a total score of 336. Third-place Judah Christian also qualified for the sectional, recording a 356.
Thirteen teams participated in the regional.
