Macen Phillips scores hat trick in win over Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Westville

Sophomore Macen Phillips scored a hat trick on Thursday (Sept. 29) as the Oakwood/Salt Fork soccer team collected a 6-0 shutout win at Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Westville.
Grant Powell added one goal and two assists.
Also notching goals for the Comets, who netted three goals in each half, were Reef Pacot and Thomas Wells.
Other assists were credited to Saul Carrillo and Kaden McDaniel.
Goalkeeper Joshua Ruch posted five saves.
Oakwood/Salt Fork held a 27-6 edge in total shots over the Buffaloes.
On Saturday (Oct. 1), the Comets recorded a 6-0 win over Judah Christian in Champaign.
Grant Powell and Saul Carrillo each netted two goals. Also scoring for the Comets were Macen Phillips and Reef Pacot.
Pacot contributed two assists while Powell and Phillips added one assist apiece.
Ruch earned two saves.
Oakwood/Salt Fork held a 33-4 edge over Judah in total shots.
The shutout was the school-record 15th of the season for Ruch and the Comets, who have yielded only three scores in their last 12 matches.
The Comets (17-3-2) return to action on Monday (Oct. 3) at Tolono Unity.
