Grant Powell breaks school record in shutout over Unity

Senior Grant Powell’s second goal of the match was his program single-season record 30th on Monday (Oct. 3) as Oakwood/Salt Fork scored an 8-0 shutout win at Tolono Unity.

Reef Pacot produced a hat trick and also assisted on two other goals. Brody Taflinger, Ty Smoot and Macen Phillips also booted goals.

Powell, who also leads the Comets in assists (26), added two helpers. Taflinger, Phillips and Thomas Wells had the team’s other assists.

Oakwood/Salt Fork held a 37-3 edge on total shots. Goalkeeper Joshua Ruch made one save while registering his program-record 16th shutout of the season.

On Tuesday (Oct. 4), the Comets dropped a 1-0 decision at Fisher in a showdown of two 18-win teams. Both programs attempted eight total shots.

Ruch produced eight saves.

Oakwood/Salt Fork (18-4-2) returns to action on Thursday (Oct. 6) in its regular-season finale at Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin.
