Two St. Joseph-Ogden entries won matches in the girls’ Class 1A tennis sectionals, which ended on Saturday (Oct. 15) at the Lindsay courts, in Champaign.
Senior Abbey Dow, who has held the No. 1 singles position for SJ-O all season, opened the postseason with a 6-0, 6-1 victory before losing in the quarterfinals.
In doubles, the duo of junior Addison Seggebruch and freshman Lily Rice prevailed in their first match before dropping a season-ending loss to Mahomet-Seymour’s state-qualifying duo of Savannah Amatyleon and Emily Young, 6-3, 6-0.
Other SJ-O sectional entries were senior Katie McDermott in singles along with sophomore Makennah Hamilton and junior Addison Ross in doubles.
SJ-O tied for 10th place at the sectional with four points.
