Spartan soccer season comes to an end in Regional Championship game

St. Thomas More made two first-half goals stand up on Friday (Oct. 14) and shut out St. Joseph-Ogden, 2-0, in a Class 1A boys’ soccer regional championship match at Fisher.
SJ-O finished the season with an 18-5-1 record. Two of the losses were 2-0 decisions to top-seeded St. Thomas More. SJ-O was the No. 6 seed in the regional.
Entering the regional finals, the Spartans had won 10 of their previous 11 matches.
Spartan goalkeeper Hunter Ketchum had eight saves in his final high school match.
For the year, seven Spartans scored at least five goals, led by Alex Accosta with 13. Other team scoring leaders were Jackson Greer (11), Collin Thomey (11), Logan Mills (10), Ryker Lockhart (9), Aiden Cromwell (5) and Zach Harper (5).
Mills posted a team-high 10 assists. Other SJ-O leaders were Thomey (8), Cromwell (7), Greer (6), Spencer Wilson (5), Will Childers (4) and Lockhart (4).
