Clark Roland finishes as runner-up at IESA State meet

Heritage’s Clark Roland was the IESA Class 1A state runner-up on Saturday (Oct. 15) in the boys’ cross-country state meet at Normal’s Maxwell Park.
Roland’s 2-mile time was 11 minutes and 2.7 seconds. He held off the third-place finisher by 1.2 seconds.
Roland entered the state finals with the second-best qualifying time from sectionals.
The Class 1A boys’ individual champion was Maxwell Kirby, from Morton Blessed Sacrament, in 10:29.4.
There were 228 finishers in the boys’ Class 1A state race.
Heritage had one other state-qualifier, Christian Paul, but he was ill and did not race.
