Franzen finishes sixth at Regional, SJ-O advances to Sectional at Dodds Park

Sophomore Savanna Franzen captured sixth on Saturday (Oct. 22), leading St. Joseph-Ogden to a fourth-place finish in the 11-school girls’ Class 1A cross-country regional at Chrisman.
Franzen’s 3-mile time was 19 minutes, 35.37 seconds.
The Spartans’ other competitors were junior Chloe Burkhalter (15th in 21:19.22), freshman Sophia Kasper (27th in 22:58.40), freshman Sydney Steinbach (32nd in 23:25.63), freshman Hannah Mock (40th in 24:15.86) and senior Kaytlyn Baker (43rd in 24:37.29).
There were 63 runners in the regional race.
Marshall copped team honors (44 points), followed by Urban Uni High (57), St. Thomas More (71) and SJ-O (97).
SJ-O will return to action on Saturday (Oct. 29) in a sectional which it will host at Dodds Park, in Champaign. The girls’ race will start at 10 a.m.
