Heritage cross country qualifies for IHSA Sectional

The Heritage boys’ cross-country team raced to a fourth-place finish on Saturday (Oct. 22) in the 11-school Chrisman Class 1A regional and qualified for the sectional meet.
The Hawks were led by senior Rowan Denmark-Collins, who was 16th in the 90-runner field with a 3-mile time of 18:05.72.
Junior teammate Aidan Ashbrook was close behind, turning in an 18th-place performance (18:06.61).
Other Heritage participants were junior Cohen Sands (41st in 19:35.01), freshman Eli Denmark-Collins (42nd in 19:38.23), sophomore Hunter Montgomery (43rd in 19:48.80) and freshman Joshua Stierwalt (57th in 20:44.36).
There were 90 runners in the race.
Notre Dame de La Salette (31 points) captured the first-place trophy, followed by SJ-O (70), Urbana Uni High (75) and Heritage (140).
The Hawks will return to action on Saturday (Oct. 29) in the St. Joseph-Ogden Sectional at Dodds Park, in Champaign. The boys’ race will start at 11 a.m.
Heritage did not have any entries in the girls’ regional race.
