Jack Fisher places fourth at Regional, Spartans advance

Sophomore Jack Fisher placed fourth individually on Saturday (Oct. 22), leading St. Joseph-Ogden to a runner-up team finish in the 11-school Class 1A boys’ cross-county regional at Chrisman.
The Spartans qualified for the sectional by virtue of their performance.
Teammates trailing Fisher – who completed the 3-mile course in 17 minutes, 12.11 seconds – were junior Carson Maroon (12th in 17:48.81), senior Ethan Blackburn (14th in 17:51.84), senior Payton Wendell (19th in 18:07.87), freshman Lance Retz (25th in 18:27.76), junior Holden Jones (29th in 18:39.83) and junior Joe Griebat (30th in 18:43.86).
There were 90 runners in the regional.
Notre Dame de La Salette was the regional champion (31 point), followed by SJ-O (70), Urbana Uni High (75) and Heritage (140).
SJ-O returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 29) in its own sectional, which will be held at Dodds Park, in Champaign. The boys’ race will begin at 11 a.m.
