Russell finishes in top half of runners at state meet

In her second IHSA Class 1A girls’ cross-country state-meet appearance on Saturday (Nov. 5), Oakwood/Salt Fork junior Macie Russell finished among the top half of the runners in the 258-person race.
Russell ran the 3-mile course at Peoria’s Detweiller Park in 20 minutes, 2.72 seconds. She finished in 112th place.
As a sophomore in 2021, Russell earned All-State laurels after a 16th-place performance. Russell is a four-sport letter winner. She also played volleyball this fall for Salt Fork.
