Mustangs on four-game winning streak

The Prairieview Ogden eighth-grade boys’ basketball team has put together a four-game winning streak after starting the season with back-to-back losses.
Playing in the Monticello Tournament, PVO lost to St. Joseph, 42-28, on Tuesday (Nov. 1) and to Monticello, 60-18, on Wednesday (Nov. 2) before the Mustangs finished tourney play with a 36-15 triumph over Tuscola on Friday (Nov. 4).
PVO then handled Blue Ridge, 52-4, in its home-opener on Monday (Nov. 7), overpowered Fisher, 62-21, on Tuesday (Nov. 8) and continued the streak with a 60-27 triumph at home over Chrisman on Thursday (Nov. 10).
Kaden Wedig scored 12 points and Jon Couture had eight points against St. Joseph. Couture led with nine points against Monticello. Wedig netted five points.
Wedig canned three three-pointers en route to a 23-point outburst against Tuscola. Couture made six points and Alex Vaughn ended with four points.
Against Blue Ridge, Couture was tops with 14 points. Wedig hit nine points and Garrett Loschen tallied eight points.
Dalton York drained six three-point shots on the way to a season-high 26 points against Fisher. Wedig downed 16 points and Couture notched 14 points.
Against Chrisman, Wedig registered a 23-point performance. York hooped 14 points, Couture had eight, Vaughn seven and Loschen six.
The PVO seventh-graders are off to a 5-1 start. The Mustangs finished second in the Monticello Tournament after dispatching St. Joseph, 31-14, and Monticello, 29-19, before falling in the finals to Tuscola, 30-22.
PVO raced past Blue Ridge, 47-8, Fisher, 56-32, and Chrisman, 46-15, in its first three home games.
Lane McKinney recorded nine points and Lucas Waters hit six points against St. Joseph. Jameson Ehler made five points.
Against Monticello, McKinney registered 15 points and Airin Rash totaled six points. Ehler hit four points.
McKinney (12 points) and Rash (10 points) accounted for all of the Mustangs’ scoring against Tuscola.
Rash set the pace with 12 points against Blue Ridge. Ehler and George Hale both swished 10 points.
Ehler’s 15 points were tops against Fisher. McKinney chipped in with 11 points. Hale ended with 10 points and Waters made nine points.
Against Chrisman, McKinney hit 12 points, Waters landed 10, Casen Goff had seven and Rash added six points.
The PVO squads return to action on Thursday (Nov. 17) at home against Bismarck-Henning.
