St. Joseph wins over Villa Grove

Abigail Crider scored 12 points on Monday (Nov. 7), sparking the eighth-grade St. Joseph Junior High girls’ basketball team to a 36-8 win at home over Villa Grove.
Kiah Riesel netted six points and Maggie Hewkin hit five points for the Panthers. Brynn Ikemire also had five points. Other contributors were Sophie Schmitz (four points), Hayden Dahl (two points) and Mia Jones (two points).
On Tuesday (Nov. 8), the Panthers lost at home to Bismarck-Henning, 34-10. Dahl led the way with six points. Both Hewkin and Stevens finished with two points.
On Thursday (Nov. 3), Unity topped visiting St. Joseph, 33-20, in Tolono. Dahl tossed in 10 points. Adeline Stevens netted four points, Schmitz had three points, Ikemire had two points and Riesel added a free throw.
The St. Joseph seventh-graders have dropped their last seven games after losses to Unity, 16-6, Bismarck-Henning, 9-6, and Villa Grove, 18-10.
Brooklyn Stevens, Avery Lappin and Megan Kearney all scored two points against Unity. Ainsley Dirksmeyer, Kearney and Ava Alexander made two points apiece against B-H.
Against Villa Grove, Kearney led the way with four points. Lappin tallied three points, Dirksmeyer had two points and Alexander ended with one point.
Both St. Joseph squads have 4-11 season records and will return to action on Wednesday (Nov. 16) at Monticello.
