SJ-O girls’ basketball splits first two games of Turkey Tournament

St. Joseph-Ogden split its first two girls’ basketball games in the second-annual Toyota of Danville Turkey Tournament in the Spartans’ gym.

SJ-O opened the season with a 59-35 loss to Tri-County on Monday (Nov. 14), but bounced back with a 49-22 victory over Centennial on Tuesday (Nov. 15).

Against Tri-County, Addison Frick hit a team-high 13 points for the Spartans, including three shots from three-point range.

Teammates Addy Martinie and Addie Seggebruch each tallied seven points and Olivia Baltzelll contributed five points.

Against Centennial, Frick again led the way with 12 points, including two three-pointers. Martinie notched 11 points, Taylor Hug netted eight points (including two three-pointers) and Kaytlyn Baker added seven points.

SJ-O (1-1) returns to action in the tournament’s final game at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday (Nov. 17) against Mahomet-Seymour (2-0).
