Heritage finishes 10th at Cerro Gordo Thanksgiving Tournament

Drew Williams hit a season-high 18 points and Timmy Wilson knocked down three more three-pointers on Saturday (Nov. 26) for Heritage, which dropped a 50-39 boys’ basketball decision to Arthur Okaw Christian in the final game of the Cerro Gordo Thanksgiving Tournament.
Williams and Wilson are both seniors.
The Hawks finished in 10th place.
Wilson finished with nine points against Arthur Okaw and has nailed a team-best six three-pointers after four games. Williams has registered 45 points in his first four outings.
Also sinking a three-pointer against Arthur Okaw was freshman Rylan White, who recorded five points. He has made five three-pointers thus far.
Julliyan Gray notched 14 points and Williams added 11 points on Friday (Nov. 25) as Heritage captured its first win, 53-50, over Argenta-Oreana.
The Hawks carried a 10-point lead into the final quarter.
Gray and Williams were supported by White and Wilson, each of whom knocked down eight points. Wilson made both of his team’s three-pointers. Robert Holloman contributed six points.
On Tuesday (Nov. 22), the Hawks suffered a 58-24 loss to St. Thomas More at Cerro Gordo.
Williams sank eight free throws en route to a team-high 11 points. White nailed two three-pointers and contributed six points. Jacob Bensyl totaled three points.
On Monday (Nov. 21), White scored 10 points in his first varsity game, but it wasn’t enough for Heritage, which dropped a 47-33 decision to the host school in first-round tournament action.
White was backed by Wilson (nine points), Gray (six points) and Williams (five points).
Heritage (1-3) returns to action on Tuesday (Nov. 29) at Urbana Uni High.
