Christmas in Homer
Heritage Elementary School , 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
It’s our annual Christmas event with everyone’s favorite cookie walk, loads of venders, lunch hosted by our wonderful Homer American Legion Auxiliary and a special visit by Santa from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Starting and finishing at Heritage Elementary/Jr. High
This 1-mile fun-run/walk will feature participants in Christmas attire and Christmas music playing along the route. All ages are invited to participate in the fundraiser for the Homer Sports Commission. The cost is $5 per participants, and finishers will receive complimentary hot cocoa and a Christmas cookie.
Dec. 4
Bunker Hill Historic Area Holiday Open House, 2 – 8 pm
During the Open House, visitors can tour and enjoy the holiday decor at the Atwood Home, Neff Grocery Store, and Print Shop. At the Neff Grocery Store, visitors can listen to old-time Christmas radio shows from the 1940s and 1950s such as the Jack Benny Show and the Fibber McGee and Molly Show. Hot chocolate, hot apple cider, and an assortment of cookies will also be available inside the Neff Grocery Store. In the Print Shop, watch the antique press machinery in action creating holiday-themed cards for children to color, decorate, and take home.
The BHHA Holiday Lights with the Brooks Family Christmas Display will debut on this same day, December 4, and will continue to run every night from 5 – 8 pm until December 31, 2022. This display, created by Chuck and Rita Brooks, was originally located just south of the park on Henning Road with a light show set to holiday music using your radio tuner. Chuck Brooks was a VCCD Board Trustee from 2002-2007 and passed away in 2021.
Dec. 10
Homer for the Holidays
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Salt Fork Center, Homer Lake Forest Preserve, 1-4 p.m.
There’s no place like Homer for the holidays! Join us at Homer Lake for our natural approach to creating unique holiday gifts and decorations. Stations will be set up for children to make and take creations for their families and friends. We’ll also create treats to hang from trees as our gift to wildlife. Come any time during program hours. FREE. All ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Current public health guidelines will be followed. Life Size Candy Land
Oakwood Public Library, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
We are transforming our library into a giant life size Candy Land game! You will become the pieces and walk your way through the game. No matter your age you will love to play this game!
Free for anyone wanting to come and play along.
St. Joseph-Stanton Fire Department Holiday Celebration
7am-noon
The St. Joseph-Stanton Fire Department will host a sausage and pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Dec. 10.
The St Joseph-Ogden FFA will be on-site to help run the event while the high school band will perform Christmas tunes. Santa will arrive on a fire truck around 10:30 a.m. Activity tables (a Hot Cocoa Bar, Cookie decorating, Letters to Santa, coloring pages, and color-your-own wooden ornament will become availabe at 10 am. Meena’s Memories Photography will be on site. She will have a backdrop set up and will be taking family photos

Annual Christmas Parade
The St. Joseph Women’s Community Club will host the annual lighted Christmas parade through St. Joseph. The event will begin at 6 p.m. All are welcome to participate with a decorated golf cart/utility vehicle, tractor, automobile or float. A $5 donation towards the group’s Angel Tree is suggested. The parade will begin at St. Joseph Middle School and end at St. Joseph-Ogden High School.
