Both PV-O boys’ basketball teams continue to add wins

Both the seventh- and eighth-grade boys’ basketball teams from Prairieview Ogden have continued their recent winning streaks.
The eighth-graders handled Bismarck-Henning, 39-20, at home on Thursday (Nov. 17), then posted a 39-27 victory at Oakwood on Tuesday (Nov 29) and followed up with a 53-12 at home over Armstrong-Potomac on Thursday (Dec. 1) to extend their streak to eight wins in a row.
That streak, however, was halted on Monday (Dec. 5) in a 40-32 overtime loss at home to Champaign St. Matthew. The teams were tied 29-29 at the end of regulation.
Kaden Wedig (14 points) and John Couture (13 points) were the team leaders against B-H. Wedig registered 21 points against Oakwood while Garrett Loschen and Lane McKinney each netted six points for the Mustangs.
Against A-P, Wedig turned in another 21-point performance. Dalton York recorded 12 points and Couture added six points. The eighth-graders zipped into leads of 17-3 after one quarter and 30-8 at halftime.
Against St. Matthew, Wedig matched his season’s high with 23 points. York and Loschen each netted three points.
The seventh-graders topped Bismarck-Henning, 43-32, and followed with a 45-18 triumph at Oakwood before dealing A-P a 40-10 loss and then tacking on a 49-28 triumph at home over St. Matthew on Monday (Dec. 5) to improve their current winning streak to eight games.
McKinney notched back-to-back 20-point games. He tallied 23 against B-H and 20 against Oakwood. Airin Rash scored eight points against B-H and Lucas Waters collected five points.
Jameson Ehler hit 14 points at Oakwood and Waters contributed four points.
Against A-P, McKinney tallied 13 points. Waters meshed eight points. Ehler and George Hale each chipped in with five points.
The Mustangs led 14-0 after one quarter and didn’t allow a field goal until the final quarter.
Against St. Matthew, McKinney netted 20 points and Ehler contributed 12 points.
The eighth-graders (8-3) and seventh-graders (10-1) return to action on Thursday (Dec. 8) at Rossville-Alvin.
