Addie Wright scored 13 points and Nikita Taylor added 10 on Thursday (Dec. 15) as the Oakwood girls’ basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 43-23 victory at home over Hoopeston Area.
Jaydah Arrowsmith contributed nine points and Bella Bradford had four points.
The Comets opened up a 12-4 lead after one quarter and were in control at halftime, 19-10.
On Saturday (Dec. 17), the Comets took a 32-28 lead into the final quarter at St. Thomas More, but couldn’t hold on and suffered a 44-36 loss.
Wright scored 19 points, including 13 in the first stanza when Oakwood built an 18-11 lead.
Arrowsmith tallied seven points and Taylor totaled five points.
Oakwood (6-6) returns to action on Tuesday (Dec. 20) at home against Paxton-Buckley-Loda.
