Comets pick up win over PBL

Nikita Taylor scored nine points and Addie Wright added eight points on Tuesday (Dec 20) as the Oakwood girls’ basketball team staved off visiting Paxton-Buckley-Loda in a 38-30 non-conference contest.
Kalie Tison contributed seven points, including four in the opening quarter as the Comets zipped into a 13-7 lead.
Jaydah Arrowsmith netted six points and Bella Bradford wound up with four points.
On Wednesday (Dec. 21), in their final pre-Christmas contest, the Comets lost at home to St. Joseph-Ogden, 56-23.
Wright led Oakwood with eight points. Arrowsmith scored six points and Cherokee Hanner added four points. Also reaching the scoring column were Sam Dunavan (three points) and Bradford (two points).
SJ-O jumped into a 15-8 lead after one quarter.
Oakwood (7-7) returns to action on Tuesday (Dec. 27) in the Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin Christmas Tournament. The Comets will play Lexington in the 1 p.m. game and take on Cissna Park at 7 o’clock.
