Tanner Jacob’s 18-points help Spartans break two-game losing streak

Tanner Jacob scored a game-high 18 points on Saturday (Jan. 7) as the St. Joseph-Ogden boys’ basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 59-35 win at home over Nashville.
The game was the sixth of seven at the SJ-O Shootout.
Jacob drilled a season-high four three-pointers.
He was backed by Ty Pence (17 points) and Logan Smith (11 points). Tanner Siems added seven points.
Pence and Siems each cleared four rebounds. Smith posted four assists, Pence had three assists and Coy Taylor chipped in with two assists.
Pence netted four shots from three-point range against Nashville, moving him into a tie for the all-time SJ-O career record for three-pointers (192) with 2014 graduate Nate Michael.
On Thursday (Jan. 5), the Spartans were edged, 50-48, by Linton Stockton (Ind.) in a game at Rockville.
Pence buried 35 points and pulled down six rebounds.
Smith contributed seven points and seven assists. Jacob ended with two assists.
SJ-O (12-2) returns to action on Tuesday (Jan. 10) at home against Teutopolis.
