PV-O starts 2023 with win over Villa Grove

Prairieview Ogden’s eighth-grade boys’ basketball team opened the 2023 portion of its season with a 43-36 victory at home over Villa Grove on Thursday (Jan. 5).

Kaden Wedig led the Mustangs with 16 points. Garrett Loschen hit seven points. Jon Couture and Lane McKinney each recorded six points. Aiden Hundley added five points.

On Monday (Jan. 9), the seventh-graders dropped a 38-31 decision at St. Joseph.

Couture tallied eight points and Wedig netted seven. Loschen and Dalton York each chipped in with five points.

The Mustang led, 12-8, after one quarter and 20-14 at halftime. The teams were tied, 28-28, after three quarters.

The PVO eighth-graders have a 13-5 overall record.

The Mustangs’ seventh-grade team topped Villa Grove, 47-34. Lane McKinney and Airin Rash each tossed in 13 points. George Hale contributed nine points and Jameson Ehler tallied eight points.

On Monday (Jan. 9), PVO posted a 47-33 win at St. Joseph.

Jameson Ehler’s season-high 21-point performance sparked the Mustangs. He downed three three-point shots and was 2-for-2 from the free throw line.

McKinney tallied 11 points. George Hale hit five points.

The PVO seventh-graders have a 16-2 season record.

The Mustangs return to action on Tuesday (Jan. 17) in their regular-season home-finale against Georgetown-Ridge Farm.
