Comets to play for chance at championship of Vermilion County Conference Championship

Third-seeded Oakwood downed 10 three-point shots on Tuesday (Jan. 17) and blitzed seventh-seeded Armstrong-Potomac, 77-45, in second-round action of the Vermilion County boys’ basketball tournament at Danville Area Community College.
Six Comets connected from distance, including Brody Taflinger, who made four three-pointers en route to a team-high 20 points.
Alec Harrison and Dalton Hobick both scored 16 points and netted one three-pointer apiece. Tanner Pichon totaled 11 points.
Also hitting three-pointers for Oakwood were Derek Drews, Jackson Dudley and Cort Vermillion.
Oakwood (15-6) returns to action at 8 p.m. on Thursday (Jan. 19) against second-seeded Salt Fork with a berth in the Saturday (Jan. 21) championship game on the line.
