Prairie Central hands SJO loss after slow start

Prairie Central opened up a 10-point lead after one quarter on Tuesday (Jan. 17) and handed St. Joseph-Ogden a 57-44 loss in a boys’ basketball game between state-ranked teams on the Spartans’ court.
The visitors led, 19-9, after one period.
Ty Pence led SJ-O with 21 points. He garnered five rebounds.
Tanner Jacob scored 10 points to go with four rebounds. Logan Smith wound up with seven points and seven rebounds. McGwire Atwood had four points and four rebounds.
Prairie Central, ranked second in Class 2, has a 17-1 season record. SJ-O, ranked sixth, is 14-4 overall following an 11-0 start.
SJ-O returns to action on Friday (Jan. 20) at Illinois Valley Central, in Chillicothe.
