Knights close out regular season with a win over Chrisman

Oakwood’s eighth-grade boys’ basketball team closed out the regular season on Thursday (Jan. 19) with a 55-26 win at Chrisman.
Carsen Dudley scored a team-high 18 points. Alex Wallace notched 10 points and Collin Furry put in eight points.
On Tuesday (Jan. 17), Dudley poured in 36 points in his home-finale, a 67-35 win over Heritage. Wallace had eight points and Cale Thomas recorded six points.
Grady Johnson contributed five points.
The eighth-graders have a 13-3 overall record and will start IESA Class 3A Hoopeston Regional play on Saturday (Jan. 28) at 1:45 p.m. against Bismarck-Henning.
Oakwood is the No. 3 seed and B-H is the No. 6 seed.
Oakwood’s seventh-graders posted a 44-24 win at Chrisman.
Jaethan Perez downed a season-high 20 points. Riglee Hart scored 12 points and was followed by Nathan Young (eight points) and Rudy Hunsberger (four points).
In a 30-25 loss to Heritage, Perez tallied 11 points. Hart and Young each made six points.
In the IESA Class 3A regional at St. Joseph, the fifth-seeded Oakwood seventh-graders top fourth-seeded Watseka, 48-19, in the first round on Saturday (Jan. 21), but fell to top-seeded Westville, 28-14, on Monday (Jan. 23) in the semifinals.
Westville went on to win the regional crown.
The Oakwood seventh-graders end the season with a 7-11 overall record.
