Comets post victory at home

Four players scored in double figures on Tuesday (Feb. 14) as the Oakwood boys’ basketball team posted a 52-39 victory at Notre Dame de La Salette.
Josh Ruch hit a game-high 14 points and was followed by Tanner Pichon (13 points), Alec Harrison (12 points) and Brody Taflinger (10 points).
The Comets shot into a 10-6 lead after one quarter and moved ahead, 23-17 at halftime.
Pichon and Ruch each netted six of their points in the final period.
The Comets (21-9) return to action on Friday (Feb. 17) in their regular-season finale at home against Watseka. Oakwood will turn around and play its postseason opener on Saturday (Feb. 18).
Seventh-seeded Oakwood will play host to 10th-seeded Hoopeston Area in a 6 p.m. IHSA Class 2A regional quarterfinal contest.
