SJ-O to play for fifth straight Regional Title tonight

Addy Martinie and Addison Frick each netted 11 points Monday (Feb. 13), helping the St. Joseph-Ogden girls’ basketball team to a 43-34 victory over the host school in the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley IHSA Class 2A regional tournament.
The teams were tied, 30-30, after three quarters.
Martinie connected for eight of her points in the last quarter. SJ-O converted 5 of 10 fourth-quarter free throws.
Taylor Hug added nine points, Addie Seggebruch wound up with seven points and Katie Ericksen totaled five points.
Martinie notched three three-point shots. Hug hit two three-pointers. Ericksen and Frick each made one three-pointer.
Top-seeded SJ-O (15-15) plays fourth-seeded Hoopeston Area in the Thursday (Feb. 16) championship game at 7 p.m. GCMS. GCMS was the seventh seed.
The Spartans are seeking their fifth regional crown in the past six years and their second in a row.
