Oakwood’s 23-win boys’ basketball team earned one first-team berth in voting by coaches for the Vermilion All-County honor squad.
Senior Dalton Hobick was one of the 10 first-team selections.
Another senior, Tanner Pichon, was picked for the five-player special mention unit. Also receiving recognition was junior Brody Taflinger, one of the seven honorable mention choices.
In separate voting for the Vermilion All-Conference team, the lone Comet to receive attention on any of the five-player top three teams was Hobick. He was a second-team honoree.
Pichon was among the 13 conference players accorded honorable mention status.
Hobick and Pichon each garnered 20 double-figure scoring games this season and were the top two scorers on a 23-10 team. Hobick averaged 14.6 points per game and Pichon averaged 11.3. Taflinger scored in double figures in 16 games and finished with a 9.5 per-game scoring average.
Pichon made 80 percent of his free throws for the season and Hobick sank 64 three-point shots.
All three players had games of 20, or more, points. Collectively, that trio led – or shared the lead – in scoring for the team in 31 games.
