Spartans record top 10 performances at Eastern Illinois University Track and Field Indoor Invitational

Five St. Joseph-Ogden boys turned in top-10 performances on Saturday (March 4) at the Eastern Illinois University Track and Field Indoor Invitational, at Charleston.
The Spartans’ top placer was junior Carson Maroon, who ran third in the 800 meters. He was timed in 2 minutes, 6.31 seconds.
Jackson Greer placed seventh in the 400 meters (54.59 seconds) and teammate Charlie Schmitz was seventh in the pole vault (11 feet, 5 inches).
Two SJ-O athletes wound up in 10th place in the 41-team meet.
Tyler Burch was 10th in the 60 meters (7.32 seconds) and Lance Retz was 10th in the 1,600 meters (4:49.62).
Two of the Spartans’ relays ran among the leaders. The 800-meter unit ended sixth (1:37.07) and the 3,200-meter foursome placed eighth (9:15.21).
SJ-O ended in 16th place with 14 points.
