Heritage volleyball reaches championship match of IESA regional

Top-seeded Heritage lost to second-seeded DeLand-Weldon on Thursday (March 9) in the championship match of the Holy Cross eighth-grade Class 1A IESA regional volleyball tournament, 25-21, 15-25, 26-22.

Heritage ends with a 15-9 overall record. DeLand-Weldon subsequently fell in the championship match of the sectional.

“This is a very talented, hard-working team of athletes,” coach Ryan Fitzgerald said. “I know and feel their disappointment because they were so close to obtaining their goal, but I am super-excited to see what team this group grows into in high school.

“I have a feeling it will be one that hangs a few banners.”
