Mustangs end season in Class 1A IESA state quarterfinal

Prairieview Ogden’s seventh-grade volleyball team suffered a season-ending loss on Friday (March 10) in the Class 1A IESA state quarterfinal match to unbeaten Pontiac St. Mary’s, 25-14, 25-7. The tournament was played at Clinton Junior High.

PVO was led by Leighna Larson with six service points and one ace. Totaling two service points was Adyn Westerfield.

The Mustangs end the season with a 17-9 overall record. Pontiac St. Mary’s (26-0) went on to win the Class 1A state title.

PVO’s state roster included Grace Bressner, Bella Frerichs, Greta Goldenstein, Makayla Hesterberg, Kellyn Irwin, Leigha Larson, Atleigh Miller, Alyssa Osterbur, Leah Pruitt, Korrine Travis, Evelyn Valentine and Adyn Westerfield.

PVO’s eighth-grade volleyball team was ousted from the postseason with a 25-19, 25-23 loss to Cissna Park in the championship match of the St. Malachy Class 1A IESA regional on Thursday (March 9).

Cissna Park (22-4) was the No. 1 seed and, after winning the sectional crown, has qualified for state. PVO was the No. 2 regional seed.
