Senior Travis Tiernan and junior Alec Harrison combined on a one-hitter for Oakwood’s baseball team on Tuesday (March14) as the Comets opened the season with a 6-1 triumph at Dieterich.
Tiernan pitched four hitless innings, yielding one unearned run. He walked one batter and struck out seven.
Harrison worked three scoreless innings. He also walked one batter and fanned seven.
The Oakwood offense was powered by Dalton Hobick, who collected two doubles. He drove in two runs and scored twice.
Other hits for the Comets were singles by Bryson Marcinko, Matthew Miller and Brody Taflinger. Miller and Taflinger each stole a base.
Oakwood returns to action on Thursday (March 16) at Casey-Westfield.
