Spartans drop two as 2023 season opens

St. Joseph-Ogden’s baseball team had a rough start to its 2023 season, losing twice by the 10-run rule on Wednesday (March 15) in the Metro East Classic.
The Spartans dropped a 12-2 decision to Edwardsville and suffered a 10-0 setback against Columbia.
SJ-0 managed three hits in the two games, Adam Price was 2-for-5 in the first two games. The team’s other hit was by Braxton Waller, who also stole a base. The hits all came against Edwardsville.
The team’s lone baserunner against Columbia was Charles Voorhees, who drew a walk.
The Spartans used six pitchers in the two games. Price was the lone hurler not to allow an earned run.
SJ-O (0-2) returns to action on Tuesday (March 21) at Tuscola.
