Adena Paul wins shot put at meet in Hoopeston

Adena Paul won the shot put and Heritage teammate Loran Tate placed among the top six in four events on Monday (March 20) as the Heritage girls’ track and field team opened the outdoor season in a five-school meet at Hoopeston Area.
Paul’s winning toss in the shot put was 28 feet, 8 inches. In the same event, teammate Bailee Lubben finished seventh at 20 feet, 8 inches.
Tate was second in the triple jump (30 feet, 4 inches), third in the long jump (14 feet, 7 inches) and fourth in the 200 meters (32.17 seconds).
She was also part of the fourth-place 400-meter relay. She teamed up with Alex Tatman, Madi Wilson and Savannah Gilliland for a time of 1 minute, 2.57 seconds.
Tate was one of two Hawks to place in the long jump. Gilliland was sixth at 13 feet, 3 inches.
Lubben ran third in the 400 meters (1:26.90). Gilliland was fifth in the 100 meters (16.30 seconds) and Wilson took fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (1:10.69).
The Heritage 1,600-meter relay captured second in 5:48.78. Runners on the unit were Tatman, Wilson, Lillian Montgomery and Lubben.
Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin was the meet champion with 203 points. Runner-up Hoopeston Area had 95 points. Heritage was fourth with 53 points.
The Hawks return to action on Tuesday (March 28) at Paris.
