Oakwood defeats Danville in four innings

Bryson Marcinko was 3-for-3 on Tuesday (March 21) as Oakwood blanked Danville, 15-0, in a four-inning baseball game at home.
Marcinko had a triple and stole two bases.
Grant Powell was backed by an errorless defense and picked up the pitching win. He yielded two hits, walked four and struck out seven in his complete-game outing.
Other offensive leaders for the Comets were Matthew Miller and Travis Tiernan, each with two hits. Joshua Ruch drove in three runs and Dalton Hobick stole three bases.
Powell scored three runs. Hobick and Brody Taflinger each crossed home plate twice.
On Monday (March 20), Oakwood scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning and added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh to salvage a 6-6 tie against Tolono Unity in its home-opener.
Hobick produced three of the Comets’ seven hits. Powell stole two bases.
Reliever Alec Harrison worked 3 1/3 scoreless innings. He struck out two.
Oakwood (2-0-1) returns to action on Thursday (March 23) at Monticello, weather permitting.
