SJ-O softball reaches 20-run mark for third time this season

For the third time in eight games, the St. Joseph-Ogden softball team hit the 20-run mark on Thursday (March 30) in a 20-0 shutout at St. Thomas More.
Freshmen pitchers Timera Blackburn-Kelley and Amelia Huckstadt each pitched two innings. Blackburn-Kelley didn’t allow a hit or a walk and struck out three batters. Huckstadt yielded two hits and one walk. She fanned three batters.
Blackburn-Kelley (3-0) has not allowed a run in four appearances, covering 10 1/3 innings.
The offensive onslaught was paced by Peyton Jones and Ellie Ward, each of whom were 4-for-4.
Addy Martinie landed three hits. Halle Brazelton, Shayne Immke and Emma McKinney all produced two hits.
Martinie hit a double and home run and drove in four runs. Jones socked two doubles and delivered three RBI. Immke recorded a triple and a home run and for the season, has pounded 14 of her 20 hits for extra bases. Martinie has 11 extra-base hits among her 16 total hits. McKinney ended with three RBI. She had one double.
Alyssa Acton, Brazelton, Immke and Jones have cracked hits in all eight of the team’s games.
SJ-O (5-3) is 1-1 in Illini Prairie Conference games and returns to action on Monday (April 3) at Bloomington Central Catholic.
